Welcome to the Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics, the CMBI. We do research and education, and provide services in bioinformatics and cheminformatics.

In 2018 many changes will take place:

Gert Vriend will retire for a large part of his appointment per April 1st 2018.

Peter-Bram 't Hoen is appointed professor in Bioinformatics (fields of interest Data/Personalized Medicine) and is head of the department per March 1st 2018.

Two of the Research Groups are no longer active at CMBI: Bacterial genomics and Computational Discovery and Design although we still have interest and collaborations in both fields.

We are working on a new website and we hope to inform you ASAP about our new plans!

  • Research. The groups in the CMBI work on:

    • Comparative genomics
    • Personalized medicine
    • Protein Structure Bioinformatics
  • Education: The CMBI is committed to a series of educational projects, ranging from high school to postgraduate courses and from a MSc-programme in Bioinformatics to international workshops.
  • Services: We maintain computational facilities, databases, and software packages in bioinformatics and cheminformatics. The cheminformatics services are directly available at CMBI, many of the bioinformatics services are offered via the (inter-)national service platforms (DTL, EBI, etc).

  • Technology Centre: the CMBI houses the the Radboud Technology Centre for Bioinformatics (RTCB) which aims to raise and solve biological questions using the most recent computer technologies and big data solutions.
